This morning the government had agreed in a meeting of the CIPE in Rome during which we have discussed question of the appropriation of funds for photovoltaics.
I just got a call from Gaetano Armao, representing the regional government of this meeting, I announced that the CIPE has approved an initial appropriation of 49 million euro for the construction of the largest plant for the manufacture of photovoltaic panels in Italy and in Europe in perspective.
I am very happy and satisfied: it is a unique opportunity to start a major industry that uses advanced technology in our region, one of the sunniest in Europe.
The budget approved by the CIPE is the result of intense and constant work of negotiations between the Sicilian Region, the CEO of Sharp, the top management of STMicroelectronics and Enel, which, however, we are dealing with important and sensitive matters affecting investment in Porto Empedocles.
The CIPE decision this morning to certify the credibility of a business transaction in which the region has believed from the outset and provides extensive guarantees for the banking system's completion.
It 's a great result that will offer employment to Sicily, development and growth based on clean and renewable energies.
