The final defeat of the Mafia not only pass through the road of judicial and police repression, but also, and perhaps most importantly, the awareness and the assumption of direct responsibility of the younger generation.
E ' With this motivation, on the occasion of 18th anniversary of the massacre in via D'Amelio, the government of the Region, in collaboration with the Department of Education, will distribute in all the schools in Sicily photos depicting the judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, civilian heroes of our region.
Those images, which have now become a symbol, also on behalf of those who fell for the Mafia, winning in the collective consciousness of the commitment to combat organized crime in Sicily, will be placed in the classrooms of schools in Sicily. We also wanted to encourage school administrators, with full respect for their autonomy in teaching, to devote the first hours of the new school year to the figures of two judges murdered by the Mafia.
We believe that this initiative can concretely and actively intervene in the educational process of the younger generation so that the concepts of legality and fight against the Mafia become fundamental and inalienable heritage of all our civil society.
